Today begins the six week Food & Wine Festival at Disney California Adventure, bringing all kinds of goodies, tasting opportunities and cooking demonstrations to the park, while also offering a fantastic experience for kids ages 3 – 11 to learn to cook alongside Disney park chefs. The festival runs through April 16.
The Junior Chef experience is a free chance for kids to join Chef Goofy, the Jammin’ Chefs, and sous chefs Chip ‘n Dale in making yummy and healthy recipes. The Junior Chef experience happens throughout each day and is first come, first seated (sadly, no Fastpasses for this).
The festival is known for its signature events, including Sweet Sundays, Winemaker or Brewmaster Dinners on Thursdays, and In the Kitchen With… on Saturdays, which is an hour-long cooking demonstration and Q&A period with well-known chefs. Celebrity chefs scheduled to appear during the festival include Cat Cora, Duff Goldman, Emily Ellyn, Keegan Gerhard, Robert Irvine, and Guy Fieri. Reservations for the signature events can be made online to secure a spot.
Over a dozen Festival Marketplaces will offer different foods to complement Festival-inspired menus at the standard restaurants and eateries. We’re big fans of Disney park food in general (lobster nachos! caramel apples! giant turkey legs!), and the Food & Wine Festival adds to that, with tempting new options for sampling. Good thing park visits involve a lot of walking!
