It’s hot, the kind of hot where when getting dressed for work, I’m already thinking about coming home at the end of the day and changing into shorts and a tank top. It’s only June and the summer lasts in the Bay Area through October, which means finding ways of cooling off without crashing the dog’s baby pool (yes, we have a baby pool for our dog).
“We have no summer clothes,” was what I whined last week, but then a dress from prAna showed up on cue, and it is everything a summer dress should be. It’s super comfortable, breathable, and I’m told it dries fast, which we will put to the test later this summer as we throw it into a suitcase and wash and wear from different hotels and apartments. (Can’t wait!) This is the Quinn Dress in Blue Guava, and it looks like summer. I think it looks beautiful.
Clothing is half the summer battle, and while we’d love to live off of froyo, apparently that is frowned upon by doctors. Thankfully my kids have taken to eating Greek yogurt for dessert, often adding fruit and nut toppings to make a healthier version of froyo. Stonyfield Whole Milk Greek Yogurt makes it easier by having a split cup with the yogurt and essentially a topping to blend in, such as strawberries or honey (two of the favorites on our house). While they consider this a dessert, it is usually eaten right after they walk in the door from school. It’s cool, refreshing, and filling while sweet enough for them to feel like it’s a treat. It’s organic, non-GMO, and the milk comes from pasture-raised cows, which makes me feel good about keeping it stocked up in the refrigerator.
Summer is happening, whether I am ready or not, but lounging barefoot in a comfy cool summer dress from prAna with a cup of freshly blended Whole Milk Greek yogurt makes the heat sound bearable. The dog’s pool is safe for now.
