Crush It This Saturday at Monster Jam in Oakland

I don’t think he thought it was real because without the scale, it looked like Hot Wheels in the dirt. I first thought about taking him to a show two years ago, when one of the contractors working on our house implored me to, saying his niece and nephew loved going to the annual Monster Jam show. It was too loud, I thought, so I resisted. Then last year I thought about it again, but didn’t go. This year I promised to be different.

In an effort to have more fun this year, I took my desire to stay home for a quiet Saturday night out of the equation and made arrangements to attend the show this weekend. That’s right, it’s coming up this weekend, giving every less inclined mom a chance to be a hero. In case you missed the commercials or begging from your children, Monster Jam will be at the Oakland Coliseum (the, to those who didn’t grow up here) this Saturday night. Tickets are still available, including $10 pit passes that will allow you to get up close to the trucks before the show. Advance purchase Monster Jam tickets begin at $15 for adults, with kids tickets $12.50, making the event affordable for families. Selected Big O Tires and Togo’s locations have discount coupons, while supplies last. Two locations – Big O Tires in Fremont and Togo’s in San Leandro, will have trucks on display this Thursday from noon to 4 p.m.

When I told my son we were going this year, he pumped his arms while chanting, “YES! YES! YES!” He keeps asking about the event – where exactly, when exactly, how many days left exactly? His enthusiasm has made the rest of the family excited, even his older sister is looking forward to it. I’m so happy for my son to experience this and even more excited to watch his face while it all happens.

Disclosure: We will be attending the event as guests of Feld Entertainment. The above story is true. I resisted ticket offers for two years, but am really excited about attending this Saturday. Review to follow. Photo courtesy of Monster Jam.
