This Saturday, bring your kids to the Hillsdale Shopping Center in San Mateo to experience the wonder of Oz. The family-friendly event is part of the Legends of Oz Express U.S. tour supporting the upcoming 3D animated feature, Legends of Oz: Dorothy’s Return coming to theaters next month. The Hillsdale stop will feature a performance, arts and crafts, storytelling, games, and a book drive supporting Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital in Palo Alto.
The free event is from 10 a.m. – 2:30 p.m. and is part of a nine-city tour wrapping up in May. Participants are encouraged to bring a new books to donate to Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital. The event takes place outside, in the mall’s south parking lot.
Activities include: Tin Man’s Friendship Club by making friendship pins, Scarecrow’s Workshop with arts and crafts, and kids can show their courage by performing on the Lion’s “Mane” stage. Relax in cozy Candy County and hear the story that inspired the film, Dorothy of Oz, written by celebrated children’s author Roger Stanton Baum. Kids can virtually follow the yellow brick road in the Legends of Oz World iPad gaming stations, and Dorothy and her friends will be there for pictures, prizes and fun!
