Raising children in a religion that is not your own can be full of challenges. Congregation Shir Hadash in Los Gatos is trying to ease those challenges through a free three-week workshop for mothers of other religions raising Jewish children. The purpose of the workshop is to educate and support mothers as they navigate Jewish traditions and join the local Jewish community.
The Mothers Circle Mini-Course will be co-lead by Lara Panish, Psy.D., who is a non-Jewish mother raising Jewish children, and Rabbi Melanie Aron. The three week course begins this Sunday from 12 – 2 p.m., with subsequent classes Jan. 26 and Feb. 9. A light lunch and babysitting will be provided, as well. Participants do not need to be members of Congregation Shir Hadash to attend.
There is no cost to attend, but reservations are requested by emailing Patty Cruz at patty@shirhadash.org.
