Live out your Napa Valley winemaker dreams this weekend by stomping grapes in San Jose. The Italian Family Festa is this weekend in Guadalupe River Park, bringing two days of Italian fun for all to enjoy. There will be music (we’ll bet good money that there will be at least one accordion), and of course, tons of amazing food, but more than that, families can learn to play bocce or bambino bocce (the same game on a smaller court for kids), and have an opportunity to try stomping grapes.
The grape stomp was so popular last year, that this year it has been expanded to both days. Signs up in teams of two for the stomp early, even though it begins at 4 p.m. each day. Then, when it’s your turn, go wild. Stomp like crazy, as there are prizes for people who crush out the most juice. After that, hit the wine garden to relax. You’ve earned it.
The event will have face painting, and other activities for kids, including the San Jose Sharks Slap Shot. Best of all, it’s free. The event runs Saturday from 11 a.m. – 8:30 p.m. and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Seating is limited, thus bringing camping chairs or blankets from home is encouraged.
