It’s back to school time, which everyone knows thanks to Facebook. For the last week or two, photos of kids posed with new backpacks and fresh faces have been popped up on everyone’s news feeds. It’s a clean beginning to a new year that holds as much promise as January 1, but as a mom, it’s always been my most stressful time, full of transitions and demands. The new school year comes with a new schedule – getting back on an early morning track, but also figuring out carpools, and after school activities, too. The soccer season begins at the same time, which adds complication. Then there is the new gear, and ensuring that beyond new pencils, shoes, and everything else, that nothing has fallen through the cracks, leading to late night runs to Target. Just writing this out makes me thankful for three more weeks of summer.
In between all of the lunches and running around is the need for snacks. Snacks for lunch, snacks for before practice, and snacks for the kid who cannot make it until dinner time without eating. We were sent a box of Balance Bar mini energy bars to try out and they’ve been a hit with all of us (they’re not only for kids!). They’re smaller than a regular energy bar, which means I’m not giving my kid a heavy bar for a snack that will wipe out any desire for a meal later on. It’s the perfect lunch bag addition to eat during snack break in the morning, and it’s ideal for eating in the car on the way to soccer practice.
