Movies Outdoors, Dancing on the Square, All in Redwood City

movie_night_250xHave a great night out with your family in Redwood City this summer as their awesome season of outdoor family programming is underway, with the most notable being Movies on the Square every Thursday night through late September. There is plenty of music, too. Courthouse Square hosts Music on the Square each Friday from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., featuring different bands, music genres, and dancing each week. A few blocks away, at Stafford Park, begins Music in the Park on Wednesdays starting June 19. All activities are free and open to all.

Kenny Metcalf’s Elton John Tribute is tonight at Courthouse Square. Tributes to other bands follow in subsequent weeks, between salsa, blues, and other bands. Courthouse Square is right near the Redwood City movie theater, and directly across the street from the Fox Theater.

The Movies on the Square films are all kid-friendly (but not all rated G) – last week was Gremlins, this week My Fair Lady, next week Madagascar 3 – and free. Recent movies like 42, and The Croods, are also on outdoor lineup later this summer. There are chairs set up, kids have room to get up and move, if they can’t sit still for an entire film, and there are plenty of food places nearby to make it a full night for family.

Picnics are encouraged for Music in the Park. Bring a blanket, let the kids run wild on the play structures, while parents get a chance to unwind with music.

Get out in Redwood City for inexpensive family fun and great summer memories.
