It’s May Day, traditionally full of flowers and Spring hopefulness, but to moms of school-aged children, it means the clock is ticking on the school year. It’s the five minute warning before school is out for summer.
My kids have six weeks of school as of today. They are one of the later schools to get out for summer, which means many moms have fewer than six weeks before the chorus of “I’m bored” begins. Summer is fun and much more carefree than the school year. I love summer break, but I also love knowing that my kids have someplace to be until 3 p.m. each weekday. Summer means accompanied trips to the grocery store, Cartoon Network on during the day, and thousands of requests for Popsicles or Gatorade. The days can be long.
So, plan your next few weeks well, parents, because summer is near.
