Participate in the first ever National Day of Civic Hacking by joining up for hands-on event in downtown Palo Alto. HackPaloAlto is a free event aiming to inspire and encourage innovation, beginning Saturday morning with a Maker Space to transform ordinary products into new ideas. The day-long event will feature numerous activities and art opportunities, plus talks on various topics, including design thinking, and women in tech.
There will be idea hacking, where people are encouraged to suggest new ideas to help the community. Those with software experience will be offered an opportunity to join together for coding and prototyping sessions. For those without software know-how, there are plenty of ways to pitch ideas or make your own projects with supplies on hand. The afternoon will feature a tech farmers market, where instead of veggies and fruits, companies and organizations will have new ideas and products available for discussion.
Of course no festival is complete without music and food, both of which will be available at HackPaloAlto. There will also be a screening of the PBS film Extreme By Design, about Stanford students using design thinking to build a better world.
