Patriot’s Day was this new, amazing holiday when I moved to Boston for graduate school. It’s a city-wide fun event with the Boston Marathon, maybe a Red Sox game, and general springtime merriment. People are out everywhere, with the streets crowded, exacerbated by road or sidewalk closings for the race. All I can think of now is the number of people outside.
Our thoughts are with Boston today, the racers who worked so hard for this marathon accomplishment, their fans who were on the scene to cheer them on, rescue crews, and any one else impacted by the explosions. We’re hoping it was a freak accident, but we’re cynical enough to think otherwise.
We’ll be back tomorrow with our normal posting. Today isn’t the time.
