The Melt Comes to Redwood City, Bringing Gifts for Education

Yummy melted cheese goodness is coming to Redwood City when The Melt opens this Sunday. Even better than a good grilled cheese sandwich is the company’s generosity as they open in Redwood City: this Sunday, all sales will be donated to the Redwood City Education Foundation. Not profits, but total sales, which means every penny spent at the new location goes to help provide music, outdoor, and summer math education, and wellness to Redwood City public school children.

The Melt is the latest addition to the downtown Theater District, opening next to the movie theater on Middlefield. Worried about a line, order online. Go to TheMelt.com to order ahead, but honestly, we’ve been to The Melt’s Stanford location during busy times and the wait has never been long. The great thing about ordering online, though, is you get to skip the lines. Your grilled cheese is made when you arrive, which means you’re not getting a cold sandwich if you don’t arrive on time.

My kids are huge fans of The Melt, and it works well for the whole family. There’s grilled cheese, soup, natural sodas, and more. Each sandwich comes with a few chips and a pickle, rounding out the meal. It’s casual food made with high quality ingredients.

The Melt’s grand opening in Redwood City begins at 11 a.m. on Sunday. The restaurant is launching two restaurants plus a bus in Los Angeles in the next few days, too.
