Both of my boys are train lovers. When my oldest was our only child, my husband would ride the light rail to downtown San Jose and back with our son just for fun. They’d ride for a while, get off, turn around, and ride back home. My son loved it. Now that my second is a pint-size train lover, I know that a day on the rails would make his day.
San Jose’s VTA has rolled out the Holly Trolley to make celebrating the holidays in downtown a little more festive. They promise to unite the nostalgia of the past with the young and young at heart! If your plan involves heading to Downtown San Jose to visit Christmas in the Park, ice skate under the palms, or enjoy the Fairmont’s holiday decorated lobby, the Trolley will get you there and… the ride is FREE!
Operating between the Civic Center and San Jose Diridon light rail stations, the Holly Trolley will make its magical journey only during the holiday season. If you are on a budget (like we are), you can make it a completely free night with a Holly Trolley ride and a visit to Christmas in the Park. It’s guaranteed to be completely magical too!
You can catch VTA’s Free Holly Trolley every weekend (weather permitting) from now through December 30; Fridays from 6:30 p.m. to 10 p.m. and weekends from 2:30 p.m. to 10 p.m. Click on the map for an enlarged view of the route and participating stations.
