Bullying seems to be a never-ending sport. I’m lucky that my oldest son has always been a gentle soul. But sometimes I have to wonder about my youngest son. He’s a rough and tough kid who, already at just 2, has figured that he can bully his big brother.
Preschool and kindergarten are foundational years for children’s social and emotional development. This is a time when children are learning how to manage and express their emotions, empathize with others, form friendships, and communicate with peers. It also may be a time when bullying behaviors first begin to surface, requiring early intervention.
Parent’s Place in San Mateo is offering a free class on Bully Prevention on Thursday, November 8th. During this workshop, you will learn how this is the prime time to teach young children the specific social, emotional, and communication skills to prevent their involvement with bullying. Register online in advance for the class.
