I don’t think this storm has a nickname, which presumably means it’s really not that bad. Winds are supposed to be high, and the rain relentless for days, which will mean flooding, traffic, and needlessly complex school pick ups. It’s the projected length of the storm that’s the most disturbing. It’s supposed to rain through the weekend, literally raining on holiday parades, raining during Friday night’s Pac 12 championship at Stanford, and raining on the Craft Fair at my kids’ school.
I regret passing by those huge umbrellas at Ikea for $2.99.
The rain is what everyone is talking about. It’s the conversation starter, it’s the focus of great theories, and projections. “I hear it’s going to break tonight, then come back and level us,” a guy said at Starbucks.
It’s rain. It sucks, but it’s needed, and it will eventually go away. Stay dry, drive slower than normal, and watch those umbrellas.
