Are You Ready to Rumble? It’s Sumo Time!

Picture your holiday card: your tiny child posed next to a hulking sumo wrestler, both in a sumo stance, and maybe both wearing the diaper-like, bikini bottom thing. Okay, scratch the last part. That would be one cool card. The great thing is that you can capture that for free this weekend at the Japantown Sumo Wrestling Demonstration.

At 10 a.m., there will be a kids only meet and greet, where kids get to meet professional sumo wrestlers and they can learn some sumo stances. Later in the day, there will be a second meet and greet, but it’s for all ages.

In between, there will be sumo wrestling matches, all outside in Peace Plaza. One of the wrestlers holds the Guinness World Record for the heaviest human to complete a marathon (he weighs 430 lbs., not that we asked).

The event is free and runs from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
