Are You Registered to Vote?

I registered to vote for the first time when I was a senior in high school.  Our government teacher made it a requirement for us all to register to vote in order to pass the class.  He said that it was our duty to vote in every election whether it was state or local.

While I did get an A in that class, I’m pretty sure my teacher would be let down to hear that I haven’t always voted.  I’ve always voted in the Presidential race. My first vote was cast for Bob Dole at the urging of my immigrant Republican boyfriend.  That relationship didn’t fair any better than Dole’s race for President.  in my 20s, I often skipped out of local and state elections.  That was until I found out about the beauty of the absentee ballot.  I’ve voted in every election for many, many years since.  Maybe my teacher would be proud after all.

Today is National Voter Registration Day.  This is your last chance to register to vote in the 2012 elections.

Do it today.

It takes 3 minutes max.

You don’t have to be Republican or Democrat to register.  I’ve been “Declined to State” from the beginning.  I’m going to start my own party called “Can y’all just do your damn job?”  I think it’ll be widely popular.

Then start to get informed about California propositions and the Presidential race.
