Kites of all shapes and sizes come to life this weekend at the Berkeley Kite Festival, a two-day event featuring free kite making, a candy drop, food, music and more.
Kites aren’t just for kids any more. Experience the excitement and artistry of modern kite flying. You’ll find something for everyone including the Giant Creature Kites as big as houses. Highlighting this year’s festival are the handmade kites from Hamamatsu, Japan. Their traditional “Machjirushi” kites are made from fine paper and bamboo – an indigenous design crafted centuries ago.
You don’t want to miss this year’s Annual Berkeley Kite Festival.
