It’s not the commercial where the town pulls their credit card points together to create a Londonesque/Gilmore Girls vibe to watch the Olympic Games, but what Redwood City is doing is pretty cool. Redwood City’s Courthouse Square is hosting a free Red, White, and Blue party tonight to celebrate the opening ceremony.
Festivities begin at 6 p.m. with a blues band, NBC 11 on hand to acknowledge local athletes who participated in previous Olympic Games, and the main event is the Opening Ceremony, which will be shown in high def on a large screen.
If you haven’t been to an event in the Square, this is the time to start. It’s incredibly family friendly, free parking is around the downtown area, and there are plenty of places to grab dinner to picnic on at the square.
