For two more weeks, Vita Hill Social Club – a laid back, temporary gaming club set up to introduce Sony’s latest product – is open, offering free gaming and snacks for anyone interested. The San Francisco location is one of eight in the U.S., allowing people to check out the new, handheld system prior to it’s release later this month. At a recent visit to Vita Hill, my kids didn’t care that it was free or that snacks were provided free as well, but they were very excited to tell their friends that they got to play a system before it was released on the market.
The spot in the city is smartly decorated (although, warning: not all furniture is properly screwed together, which we found out the painful way) and a lot of fun for gamers. My kids played a bunch of new games (Little Deviants and Reality Fighters) with ease, and were very happy to sit playing a video game while eating pizza on a cushy leather couch, something that wouldn’t be allowed at home.
In addition to casual perusal time, several events and tournaments are scheduled, in addition to a PlayStation Vita giveaway. There is zero pressure to buy a system (once they go on sale), removing the worry of being pitched.
