While you’re in Marin, stick around after dark for NatureBridge’s Headlands Institute‘s The Night’s Sky Family Hike and Campfire the evening of Nov. 12. The hike is easy for all ages, includes a talk on the sky and stars above, and ends with a campfire, singing, and roasting marshmallows for s’mores. $12 per person.

San Francisco’s Museum of Craft and Folk Art is fostering collaborative construction by letting kids five and older use scrap wood, cordless drills, and dowels to build a collective sculpture in the Museum gallery, Nov. 12 from 2 p.m. – 4 p.m. Free for members, $5 for nonmembers.
Love the steam-powered kinetic art at the Maker Faire? Then head over to Oakland’s Kinetic Steam Works hosts its annual roll out event this Saturday, Nov. 12 from noon to 10 p.m. The event is full of mechanical entertainment, including steam engines, a pumpkin guillotine and, steam powered abominable snow cones. Kids under 12 get in for free; adult admission is on a sliding scale (family rate – suggested $20) to support the nonprofit.
