Voting for Toddlers

Two more days until the election is finally over. Two more days and I can’t wait. Can’t wait for the endless calls to end. Can’t wait for the countless commercials to interrupt my peaceful TV watching.

I’m not the most political of people. If I’m honest, I’ll admit to not being political at all. Not because I don’t care, more because I care enough to get really frustrated with the government. And my frustration is at an all time high right now.

I spend a lot of my time teaching my kids how to act properly. We don’t tattle. We don’t tell tall tales. We treat people how we’d like to be treated ourselves. And we look for the good in everyone.

Then I turn on the TV or the radio and all we hear is political candidates tattling on each other, telling lies about each other, and working hard to smear each other’s reputations.

More often than not my kids are in the car with me when these radio spots come on. I do my best to lower the sound before the mudslinging begins, but I’m not always fast enough. I’m embarrassed to have them hear this stuff. I don’t know how to explain why these people are saying mean things about each other.

The elections are just a few days away and I know California needs help. Badly. I want to make a difference. I want to vote for the person who’s going to be the one to save our education system, to save our economy. But I have to admit that I have zero faith in any of the candidates. All I know about any of them is that they’re really great at pointing the finger and telling everyone why not to vote for the competitors.

California needs a real leader to get us out of the mess we’re in. Instead we’re being offered up a couple of toddlers. It doesn’t bode well for the next couple of years.
