There is no denying that the holidays are creeping up. While the little ghosts and goblins haven’t gone out in search of their sugar fix, Christmas decor has been on sale at Costco for a month and recently, the local Whole Foods set up a Hanukkah display. It’s time to start crossing off gift items on the list of those who are naughty and nice, and we’ve got the cool item of the season for one lucky person, regardless of how good they’ve been.
The Sony Dash is no alarm clock. Technically it could be used as an alarm clock, but that’s such a waste. Why not pop the little Dash into the kitchen, living room or maybe even the bathroom? We won’t judge. The Dash is customizable by using over 1,000 free apps to run photos, weather, traffic, Pandora, Twitter, Facebook, recipes, Netflix, news streams, YouTube…the list goes on and on. It’s entertainment and information in a dash. Get it? Dash? It takes the internet into rooms it may not normally be, like the bathroom. See, it’s not so weird. Okay, it’s a little weird. We put ours in the kitchen for a little entertainment while washing dishes, but you can do what you want. Use it as an alarm clock, even.
We took a test drive of the Dash during a great event hosted by Roxane and Stefania and featured lunch from Chef Jennifer Puccio of Marlowe. Besides the great food, we walked out of the event with an extra Dash. We’ll do anything for our readers, including steal. If that’s what it takes to make you happy, we’ll do it. No, no, no, that’s not what happened. Sony gave us an extra Dash to giveaway. You want one, trust us, and now is your chance. Get it before the holiday insanity sets in. We’re not even going to ask that you give it as a gift. Keep it for yourself. Who are we to judge?
To enter, leave a comment saying which room you’d put the Dash. For a second entry, Like us on Facebook. It’s that easy! Entries must be received by midnight Nov. 15. A winner will be selected using random.org. A maximum of two entries per person, please.
Disclosure: Sony gave us two Dash units, one to test out and keep and one to giveaway. We were also given a $25 gift certificate for Marlowe.
UPDATE: We picked a winner and it was the lovely Abi Jones! Enjoy your Dash, Abi!
Is it wrong to say that I want the $25 for Marlowe? I am dying to try that restaurant.
And a Dash would be great, too! 😉
The husband would be very impressed if one of these showed up in the house. Major bonus points for me. And we’d be one step closer to that smart home he’s been dreaming about since he was 12. I’m guessing it would end up in the Kitchen: recipe apps; grocery list; authoritative answers to random questions from dinner guests…. Thanks for the offer!
The dask goes in kitchen… no questions asked… no matter how much hubbie wants it elsewhere!!!
🙂
I would put this in the kitchen. No really!
The kitchen of course. I think I will move my bed in there too, since I seem to spend the most amount of time there.
Living room. And the kitchen. So, as you can see, I’ll need two.
I’d definitely keep it in the kitchen. My laptop is so awkward on the counter!
Mine would go in the kitchen to keep me company while I’m baking and playing with the produce from the garden. If you hear a sniffling sound, that’s me mourning the first frost and the end of fresh tomatoes. Sigh. But a Sony Dash? W00t!!
Initially I was going to suggest my daughter’s room until I read you can stream Netflix. Hello? In my kitchen please 🙂
Kitchen, hands-down!
I would love a Sony Dash and I would definitely put it in the Kitchen. It would be great to have use of all those apps in there.
I liked Silicon Valley Mamas on Facebook.
Probably the kitchen. Possibly my bedroom. I don’t have any tech in there other than a TV, so it might be nice to have that there. Therefore, pick me please! 🙂
Also, I just liked you on Facebook, and not just because I want to win the Dash but because I do like you. And you’re pretty.
I was in the Sony dash insiration contest as a finalist and I learned a lot about the Sony dash and I have to say I would buy one over the iPad. The room I like to put the Sony dash is in my sons room. My autistic son. He loves YouTube , slacker radio and pandora. The touch screen and the home page is great.
I’d take my Sony Dash into the living room. Dash next to me…big screen in front of me. I can see it now!
Liked on FB.
Thank you!
i would definitely take the dash to bed with me, so my answer is the bedroom. 🙂
I’d keep it in the kitchen or in the bedroom for those late night/early morning wake ups that we all dread.
This would go next to my bed!
Like on FB.
It would live next to my sofa where I can comfortable multitask, and by that I mean watch Project Runway while tweeting about it and speed reading blogs.
Oh and I liked you on FB!
Oh the Dash would live in my kitchen. I’d even clear off some counter space for it!
I would definitely want it in y bedroom since I spend most of my time there!
I just “liked” your FB page.
I already have my spot picked put in the kitchen. Seriously. This would be *so* much better than dragging my laptop with my everywhere, esprcially when I’m using it as a cookbook!
I’d put it in my bedroom! : )
I Like you on Facebook
I’d have it in the kitchen and the living room, at the bare minimum. This thing is so cool, even if I don’t win it… I’m going to buy one.
I’d use it in the kitchen and would hope hubby wouldn’t take it into the bathroom.
I would definitely keep this up in the bedroom for either hubby or me to use! Thanks for the giveaway!
I would definitely Dash it up in the kitchen. Our old-fangled CD boom box just went kaput, so we are tune-free during dinner prep & weekend pancake-flipping. So sad! Thanks for the giveaway. : )
A new gadget is always fun–we’d probably end up fighting over who gets to use it the most!
I would love to have one of these things. I would put it in my bedroom so I could stay connected the minute I wake up. Such a fun toy for me!!!
I ‘like’ Silicon Valley Mamas on FB.
I would totally put it in the bathroom.
I liked you on FB!
This would go in my kitchen!
Liked you on FB. 🙂
I would put it in our bedroom.
I liked you on FB
In the bathroom at my dressing table for when I put my makeup on and get dressed! I liked you on FB!
The Sony Dash would live right next to me on the nightstand.
Definitely in the bedroom for when I need to check weather, a quick news update or something and don’t want to get out of bed. The IPad has come in handy for that except my hubby is always using it!
Fun giveaway! Glad you’re enjoying your Dash and can’t wait to hear who wins the second!! Will you let us over at Sony know who wins!?
Well, since I live in a dorm at the moment, I think I’d put a Sony Dash in my bedroom-office-living-room-dining-room-kitchen-den-library-and-game-room…room!
I would so put this in the kitchen, great for having when I’m cooking dinner. Even if the wife says there is no counter space it will be there!!!
I would so put this in a garage for everything from tool and product info to accessing online help on the car, mower or even map my trips
Kitchen is the best place for a Dash! ^^
I would put it in the kitchen
I’d put mine in the kitchen. We want to de-clutter our lives, no more calendars and recipes laying around. Wouldn’t it be nice to have it all in one spot?!
The dash goes on my desk at work during the week adn on the end table by my chair on the weekends. I have even took it out on the deck to watch movies.
This would have to go in the bedroom for me. Can check my emails before bed, and wake up to any new tweets in the morning. 🙂
Easily the bedroom. The dash will enhance the beauty of room just by replacing my 15 year old sony clock! Gonna like you on FB too!
@sdf1skull
This would go in my living room or maybe my bedroom..but if it was my bedroom then I would never leave it 😉 I am already a fan on FB. Good luck all!!
I would put the Sony Dash in the room between my own two hands… which happens to be the exact room where myiPad used to occupy space.
definitely the kitchen. It would be so cool to look up recipes to make while right in the kitchen, check out my favorite shows or websites, read the latest news and my fave blogs… all from the comforts of my own kitchen.
2nd entry for liking you on Facebook
Actually I would love two, one for my computer room and one for the kitchen.
my dash would likely move around with me. in the bedroom at night/morning to watch movies and facebook.. and probably to my desk during the day instead of my sony picture frame, which would take its rightful place on the wall again as a clock. i used to buy tons of sony stuff, i still try to keep up and i plan to get a dash either way, win or no win. i hear there is some psp functionality to come in the future? that would be faaantastic.
I’d put it in my 33 y/o Christmas stocking, after all what do you get a man with every new gadget but the Sony Dash.
In between the Kitchen and living room on the counter for all to enjoy!
A Dash belongs in the family room, right next to the couch.
You have been liked on facebook. Everyone needs a Dash in their bedroom too.
on the coffee table, or car, having real plugs in the car is great
Believe it or not, I would keep mine in the bedroom. I started investigating alarm clocks as I have had several in a row crap out on me and after doing some research I found the Dash. I have asked for one for Xmas from the hubby, but winning one would be amazing. Now, I said I’d keep it in the bedroom, but we all know it will likely follow me around the house. Thanks for the great give-away!
Sony Dash, Sony Dash, where would I put thee? Tis a dilemma for thou art so versatile! Shall you be placed in the bathroom? No I think not; all that moisture, occasional stench and grunting may affect your shiny disposition. Kitchen? Hummm, this may be the spot. But wait, maybe not; your tough exterior is appealing and quite strong. However I must not subject you the occasional grease splatter, steam from the boiling pots, and the kind but dirty touches of hands to your brilliant touch screen. Tis a NO NO! Ahh Ha, I have the PERFECT room for you my dear Sony Dash. Our bedroom of course, you shall be the first I see and touch when I awake and the last I say Bon nuit to as I lay to sleep. YES the BEDROOM IT IS! p.s. my partner may get a bit jealous and please more often now!
In the Library (read: toilet)!
I would use it in bed, the alarm clock would be an awesome use for it, right now I use my phone as an alarm and its not a good ideal because I have been woken up by telemarketers at random hours.
Liked you on Facebook!
I’d probably put the Dash in the kitchen – I get almost all of my new recipes online and I either have to print them out or bring y laptop or iPhone into the kitchen which is a pain. This would be perfect for reading recipes. 🙂
Then I’d take it into the bathroom… no doubt.
I would use this in the kitchen, to check out recipes and watch tv while washing the dishes!
The kitchen. It’s such a pain trying to use the iPhone to search for recipes…and the laptop’s takes up too much counter space…
